A statement was issued by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon: "The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack on the Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar, Pakistan, which took place on Tuesday, 9th June 2009. He is saddened by the large numbers of dead and wounded."
