Serbia joins the International Youth Day celebrations

Serbia joins the global campaign to support young people by celebrating the International Youth Day and launching the beginning of the International Year of Youth under the theme "Dialogue und Mutual Understanding".Minister of Youth and Sport, Snezana Samardzic-Markovic and Mr. William S. Infante, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, jointly launch the International Year of Youth at the signing ceremony with representatives of 62 NGOs, the recipients of 57 million RSD provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sport for youth related projects throughout Serbia promoting entrepreneurship, environment management, education, and fight against language barriers in ethnically diverse surroundings.

 UNCT - New Country Partnership Strategy Signed between the Government of Serbia and the United Nations

Belgrade, 25 June 2010 – the United Nations (UN) in Serbia represented by UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. William S. Infante, and the Government of Serbia, represented by Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Vuk Jeremic, signed a new five-year Country Partnership Strategy. The strategy will implement an estimated US$ 250 million in programs and activities from 2011 to 2015 that will be conceived with the government and other stakeholders.

Stories of urban health champions were gathered to illustrate what people are doing to improve health in their cities.

The International Mother Language Day, proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999, has been observed yearly since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
The eleventh International Mother Language Day, on 21 February 2010, will be celebrated in the framework of the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures.
