Climate change continues to compromise economies and threaten tremendous upheaval, saddling young people everywhere with an unjust “ecological debt”. This is a potentially crushing burden. The views and proposals by youth can help build the momentum necessary to “seal the deal” in Copenhagen later this year. The UN-led Seal the Deal Campaign aims to galvanize political will and public support for reaching a comprehensive global climate agreement in Copenhagen in December2.
The United Nations in Serbia remains committed to support the Government and the people of Serbia in supporting youth development and, thereby, safeguard the future of Serbia. Young people often lead by example: practicing green and healthy lifestyles, or promoting innovative uses of new technologies. They deserve our full commitment - full access to education, adequate healthcare, employment opportunities, financial services and full participation in public life.
In working with the United Nations and informing our work, youth have expressed joy, hope, concerns, issues and fears. Together, we can realize hopes and allay fears. Let's stand up, move up and, together, support Serbia's youth in shaping both the present and the future.
